Drama & Musical Theater

Beginning Acting - Ages 11 – 18. With cuts in school funding and the loss of elective opportunities in drama, this class will fill the need for the beginning student to work seriously on building his/her acting skills. Through improvisation, scenes, monologues and class exercises, the student will work on vocal and physical character creation and development. This class will teach the basic techniques of acting, not just which place to stand on the stage. It will endow the beginning and intermediate actor/actress with the needed confidence and skill to create truthful performances on the stage combined acting and singing talents while working with others on “musical theatre cuttings”. A cutting is a shortened (@30 minute) version of a musical that highlights favorite numbers and scenes by combining them into a musical medley format. Guaranteed fun for all involved, this auditioned group will also perform for various community events. Costuming for performances is the responsibility of the performer, although the director will provide guidance.

Advanced Acting - This class is designed for the older and more advanced students, who want to take their acting a bit more serious. Director, Dove Daniels will be offering this class on Wednesday nights from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, at Musicians Workshop.
