2008 Chuck Niles Jazz Singer & Be-Bop Award competition Finalists: Saxophonist Paul White from Austin Texas, and pianist George Kahn of Culver City. The Chuck Niles Jazz Singer finalists are Cynthia Jones of Los Angeles, and Pamela Hart of Austin Texas.

Finalist will compete on the Chuck Niles Stage, Sat. July 12 from 3:30 to 7pm.

Chuck Niles -- the voice of Jazz in Los Angeles passed away at the age of 76. He spent over 50 years on-air and was beloved by all, earning him countless affectionate nicknames-- Bob Florence called him "Bebop Charlie"; the Latin Jazz world knew him as "Carlitos Neelace"; and Horace Silver dubbed him the "Hippest Cat in Hollywood."

The Chuck Niles Jazz Music Award, is an open competition, presented by the Chuck Niles family.

As well as being presented the annual Chuck Niles Jazz Music Award, by Nancy, and Tracy Niles,

the winner will also receive "A DAY" of recording time at


Finalists will compete on the Main Street Art Faire Stage during the Festival.


Judges will be looking for "Chuck Niles" genre of music: Big Band, Swing, Be-Bop, Latin, and vocalists.


Finalists will be selected to perform at this years Temecula Valley International Jazz Festival -
Tracy Niles, and Nancy Niles will be present to judge the finalists and select and present the winner.

Due to overwhelming response in 2008 we will offer both the Chuck Niles Be-Bop Award and the Chuck Niles Jazz Singer Award.

All the entries this year were incredible musicians and Nancy Niles & Tracy Niles had both a hard time choosing and a wonderful listening.

The finalists will perform Sat. July 14 between 1pm - 4pm with 45 min sets. on the Chuck Niles Stage located on the corner of Front St. and Main St. in Old Town Temecula.
