Allison Adams Tucker

Multi-lingual jazz vocalist Allison Adams Tucker has a passion for world cultures and the communication of music that binds us all. She began singing before she could speak, raised in the home of classically trained musician parents in her native San Diego, and has performed in front of audiences since her childhood.

Her love for studying languages also began at a young age, and she has gone on to live, study, and sing in 6 languages besides her own. Allison studied Linguistics and Music at Anderson University and Thomas Edison State College, and holds a B.A. degree in Linguistics with a Minor in Music Vocal Performance. Her travels have taken her to over 12 countries, with a large piece of her heart and her life spent in Japan and Latin America.

After traveling to various countries and living in Japan for several years, Allison returned to her hometown of San Diego with a vision. She combined her lifetime passion for language, culture, and music, reaching the intercultural audience of today. Allison’s debut release “Come With Me” (Allegato Music July, 2008) is a culmination of this passion.

"Every song has something to do with a journey of sights, sounds and nature, giving listeners something tangible to engulf themselves in," recalls Adams Tucker about her hand-selected collection of timeless world jazz classics.

Recorded by jazz guitarist Peter Sprague and arranged by pianist Kamau Kenyatta, Allison Adams Tucker brings an impressive collection of 11 jazz musicians together to this project, including pianist Danny Green, Reiko
Obata on Japanese koto harp, Derek Cannon on trumpet, and more.

Adams Tucker sings in the purest of soprano voices, with a clarity of tone unique in today’s musical world. As San Diego Dizzy’s founder Chuck Perrin states in the CD liner notes, “… sing she does – with a beautifully clear voice, honest, supple and ingratiating, lacking any evidence of the pretension found in so many of today’s vocalists.”
